“Come on, this way,” The young Jellax said to the others as they rushed after the group. The poor humans had eluded their grasp, but now they were cornered. A simple shack in the countryside wouldn’t keep them from their salvation.  As they rushed up, the slime people did not realize they were being watched from up above.

Rushing up to the shack, the leader of the Jellax group first got the door and opened it up cautiously, not wanting to scare anyone or make them do an action they regretted. As the door swung open, she saw a small group of humans, cowering the back—a few children with them, which only made things even better. It also warmed the Jellax’s heart to take the most innocent into their fold.

“Hello there,” The leader said as she approached them. “It’s good we finally caught up with you all,” The other Jellax started to move to them.

“P-Please,” One of the women stuttered as she held a young boy in her arms. “Just let the kids go. They don’t deserve this,”

“But why should we do that? Don’t you want to be with them forever? We can give you that,”

“No!” Another woman shouted with rage. “You’ll just eat them! Like everyone else!”

Chuckling a bit, and crossing her arms, the leader responded, “Are you really sure about that? Wouldn’t I just be attacking you all if that was my intent?” Uncrossing them, she approached, causing the group to try and back away as much as they can. “There’s nowhere else to go, so just join us. You’ll love being part of our family,”

The humans looked about ready to burst into tears. That is, until, the Jellax noticed something—they weren’t looking at them anymore, but seemed to be looking behind them. One even whispered, “What the hell?” in a hushed tone, nothing like what most of the Jellax had experienced with reluctant converts.

Confused, the Jellax turned around and saw what it was that had captured the attention of the people. There, right behind them, was a female armored humanoid, with gigantic bird-like wings growing out of her back. Her oval face showcased a somewhat light tan that was still noticeable in the dark of the night, as well as a dark blonde hair that fell to her shoulders in elegant curls. Her armor was completely white and seemed fit more for a medieval knight than someone like her, but she did not seem hindered by it and even seemed pretty comfortable. In her left, she held a massive shield, while her right held a large, metal lance, both the same white color as her armor. Her piercing green eyes shone with a tranquil fury that indicated she meant to deal out justice to whomever she found guilty.

“What?” Was all the Jellax leader could say in response to this being.

“Beware the light,” Was all the figure said before she raised her arms fast. From within her, a huge flash emerged from her in various colors. The humans in the shack were left unharmed, though they had to shield their eyes from what they say. When they opened them again, they saw that where had once stood Jellax was now just piles of ash, still smoldering from the colorful corona.

“You… you killed them!” A man cried out, astonished.

“No, just sent them back to their homeworld,” The angelic woman responded. Seeing that some of the humans were beginning to become despondent again, the woman smirked and replied, “Don’t worry, they won’t be back for a long time. Gives you all plenty of time to get to the Resistance.” At that, she pointed northward with her armored hand. “I’ll meet with you there and you can ask all you want.” With that, she lifted her great wings and, with a few flaps, took to the skies once more.

Hi everyone,

A little while ago, I was thinking about the superhero film Logan and, while I was thinking about my Jellax series, I couldn't help but imagine doing a preview in what I've decided to be a new addition I want to do later. Plus, I just couldn't resist trying to do a shout-out to "Beware the light." Such an awesome line! :D (Big Grin)

I also feel this might be good to give a taste for people to see what I plan to ultimately do for the Jellax in my story, to see if you all want to get behind it or not. As I've told some, this is going to be a series that is darker than the original Jellax stories, so I wouldn't be surprised if some didn't want to read it. Even so, I don't want to make it too dark, and so I've found ways to bypass it.

In any case, enjoy the story guys!

Of course most of them have never BEEN to their 'home work' and it's unlikely Nemesis could hold the billions of Jellax that now exist.
